The "Strong motion site characterization" workshop is organized within the framework of the Network Activity NA5 "Networking databases of site and station characterization" of the SERA (Seismology and Earthquake Engineering Research Infrastructure Alliance for Europe) EU project. It will take place the 11th and 12th of March 2019 in the city of L'Aquila, Italy at the Sala Ipogea of the Emiciclo palace.
The workshop is devoted to the proposition of guidelines and recommendations for best practice procedures of site-effects characterization at the seismic strong motion stations, in terms of indicators and quality metrics. Moreover, it will discuss the road map for strong motion site characterization in Europe within the next 10 years.
All topics are related to the SERA and EPOS activities on connecting infrastructures and communities in the field of site characterization.
Scientists and practitioners in geophysics, engineering seismology and geotechnical engineering, building code experts as well as network operators are welcome to discuss on the state of the art of site characterization at seismic stations and on the guideline propositions.
The registration is now open and free of charge.
The deadline to register is: 15 January 2019.
More details about the workshop and the registration form can be found at the Strong motion site characterization Workshop web site.
Additionally, in the same location of the SERA workshop, two special sessions are organized about site characterization:
- a training course on Ambient Vibration Techniques for Site Characterization proposed the week before, 4-9 March 2019
- an open workshop on recent advanced techniques for site characterization, 9-10 March 2019
